What Separates the Good From the Great?
Most people are average at what they do. Some are good, and even fewer are great.
I believe that there are a few key factors that separate good from great. These things don’t always come naturally either. They can be developed, if we’re willing to do so. When developed, these key factors will benefit us in nearly any situation.
Here are Five Key Factors that separate the Good from the Great:
1. Willingness To Learn. When someone becomes unteachable, they become useless. An inability or refusal to take advice will be the death of many. When confidence begins to overshadow skill, problems will arise.
2. Willingness To Work Hard. You can take the most talented, gifted, intelligent person and, without hard work, they will never find success. You have to be diligent in your labor. There are no substitutes for good old-fashioned hard work. Period.
3. The Ability To Motivate Themselves. The fact of the matter is that you are not going to want to go to work every single day. Some days are rough, and discouragement will come. If you cannot find ways in which to motivate yourself to keep going, then you will not reach greatness.
4. The Ability To Ignore The Odds. Regardless of your circumstances, you must perform day-in and day-out. Whether you are an athlete, a sales person, a soldier, doctor, or teacher, you have to focus on the task at hand. Ignore what is going on around you and focus on what matters.
5. The Understanding Of Your Need For Improvement. You can’t grow what you don’t know. It is important to be able to self-evaluate, and understand the areas that you need to improve upon. Once an individual has made the decision to stop growing, they will begin failing.
With these tips, you can up your game, and go from poor to average.
From average to good.
And then from good to great.
