The Most Necessary AI Mission of All
Since graduating West Point in 1989, I spent three decades in software and have been anticipating the natural (and inevitable) intersection of AI and leadership development ever since. I am not referring to the kind of traditional leadership development delivered as an academic topic, a one time workshop or guest speaker series.
I am referring to the leadership development experience that is perpetual, habitual and designed for every individual from the inside out.
The world is changing and so is how we learn. Consumption patterns are creating new learning cycles, shorter and faster yes, but also more consistent and perpetual, even addictive. It’s hard to feed an addiction to learn leadership when the experiences are so few and so untimely. Traditional leader development was created for a world that no longer exists, and AI is now accelerating that change.
Everyone has and always will have the very human need to lead. Leading is a basic human desire, an instinct, that goes as far back as the upright stance of humankind. With AI and microlearning advancements, everyone should be able to fulfill that need to lead, to grow their better habits and unlock the highest (and happiest) version of themselves.
Continuous leadership development, one that follows you and pushes you everywhere, anywhere, is an essential pathway for self discovery, personal happiness and societal contribution. It is the highest promise for AI.
The seismic shift of computing power has brought AI to an astonishing set of new possibilities. There will surely be satanic misuse of AI but there will also be Einstein-like applications that help humankind.
The highest order of these new possibilities is to unlock AI to deliver leader-like habits, impulses and motivations to every person in the world who wants to learn to lead...and keep learning.
As AI is a millennial shift in how humans learn, then learning to lead is the most exciting, pressing and necessary AI application of them all.
